West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll retired officially retired on August 1, but at the August 10 meeting of the West Goshen Township Board of Supervisors, Carroll was honored again.

In a 3-0 vote, the board of supervisors passed an ordinance commending Chief Carroll for his service and dedication.

Other Highlights at the meeting

  • The supervisors approved an ordinance that would allow the township to collect money owed on a property in case of a fire or other natural disaster.  Basically, if a home burns down or is destroyed by a natural disaster payments from the insurance company would be made to the township before the homeowner if there was a lien, fine or other municipal charge levied against the house.
  • The township is applying for a grant through the city of Philadelphia to install backup batteries on several of the township’s intersection lights.  Philadelphia recently installed traffic cameras at their stoplights and part of the deal for those cameras was that the money earned become available for use by municipalities in the state.  The grant amount would be in the neighborhood of $65,000.
  • The township shooting range upgrades have been completed and training at the facility has resumed.  However, the township will conduct sound testing in the next week, and sound-deadening material will be installed at the site in the next couple of months.
