The vote is already in, now the money has to follow.
The West Chester Borough council voted to purchase the Barclay Woods at a special meeting Monday night, according to a report from the Daily Local.
The agreement, which was discussed at the borough's Dec 4 meeting, will proceed as follows:
- The borough will submit a nonrefundable $20,000 deposit to developer and (soon to be) former owner, StanAb.
- The borough will then purchase two lots by June 30, 2014
- The final two lots must be purchased by Dec 30, 2014
The borough's intention is to raise funds for the purchase through state and federal grants, as well as through funds from private groups like the Barclay Grounds Preservation Alliance.
According to a report from the Inquirer, the group hopes to raise $500,000 in grants, with another $200,000 coming in donations. The group currently has about $30,000, according to reports.
The Daily Local has more on the deal and the history of the property.
