Report: Supreme Court Throws Out Redistricting

According to an Associated Press Report, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has thrown out the state assembly's redistricting plan calling the plan "contrary to law."

According to the Associated Press, "The justices voted 4-3 to send the plan back to the Legislative Reapportionment Commission, and the majority said their opinion in the case, laying out the reasoning, would be released later."

West Chester Mayor Carolyn Comitta had this to say in an e-mail, "Our great appreciation goes out to our attorney extraordinaire, Sam Stretton, for donating his valuable time and incredible expertise to help us fight for the voters of West Chester."

Stretton had filed a petition on behalf of residents of both West Chester and Phoenixville to prevent both boroughs from being split into two separate legislative districts.

Mayor Comitta also said in her e-mail, "Current district boundaries will apply for the next two years," and she called the ruling "unprecedented" 

"This is finally a ruling for the people," she added.
