President Obama Visits Philadelphia

The leader of the nation stops by the City of Brotherly Love.

President Obama made a stop in the Philadelphia region this week on the heels of his comment that the "private sector is doing fine." Many asked him to address the comment during his visit to the region.

Before he even set foot in the area, the PA GOP Chairman Rob Gleason, Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-Chester) and Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Lehigh) hosted a press call to focus on the looming visit.

“As many of you are aware, President Obama made comments last week saying that ‘the private sector is doing fine.’ Does he actually believe that the millions struggling with 8.2 percent unemployment and the many unable to find jobs are all doing fine?," said Gleason to PoliticsPA.com during the press call.

Obama attended three fundraisers at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia during his visit, where he also addressed the state of the economy.

"We can say that we are in a stronger position, we are moving in a better direction, than when I took office," he said in his speech, officially released by the White House's Office of the Press Secretary. "Now, does that mean that I’m satisfied? Does that mean we are satisfied? Absolutely not. Because we have too many friends and neighbors who are still out of work."
