Election Day: Primaries 2011

Election day is here.

There are several contested races in the area as voters go to the booth today.

There are contested races in a couple of the West Chester Borough Council wards as well as several township supervisor races and the school board.

Here’s a rundown of who’s running, and where.

West Chester Borough Council

On the Republican side, Scott Brion is running in the second ward and Kerry Acker is running in the sixth.  Brion is running for the seat currently held by Cassandra Jones, and Acker will be going after the seat previously held by Jim Jones.

For the Democrats, Cassandra Jones will be running in the second ward, and Jordan Norley will run in the fourth. Susan Bayne previously held the fourth ward seat, and she is now running for County Commissioner.

The only contested race in the primary will be on the Democratic side in the sixth ward.  Stephen Shinn is running against Jane Dorchester.

East Goshen Township Board of Supervisors

There are no Democrats running for the board of supervisors in East Goshen, but there are three Republicans running for two spots.

Incumbent, and current supervisor chairman, Senya Isayeff will run against Chuck Proctor and Donald McConathy.

West Chester School Board

Seven people are running for five spots in the school board primary: Maureen Snook, Vincent Murphy, Ted Diehl, Galen Plona, Karen Miller, Linda Raileanu and Wayne Burton.

Karen Miller is the only incumbent.  She was appointed to the board in March after Dr. Jim Wingerter retired for health reasons.

West Goshen

On the Republican side, Jacob Bowman, Theodore Murphy and Raymond Halvorsen are running, and Geoff Wilkinson is the only Democrat.
