Election Day 2011

Polls close at 8 p.m. so get out there and vote.

There are contested races in a couple of the West Chester Borough Council wards as well as several township supervisor races and the school board.

Council

In the second ward incumbent Democrat Cassandra Jones is running against Republican Scott Brion, and in the sixth ward, Democrat Stephen Shinn is running against Republican Kerry Acker.  Also, in the fourth ward, Democrat Jordan Norley is running unopposed.

This is the local race that has received the most publicity as a slate of write-in candidates are challenging both the endorsed candidates from the Republican party and the Democratic candidate.  Running for the Republicans is incumbent Karen Miller, Vincent Murphy, Maureen Snook, Linda Raileanu and Glen Plona.  Also running for office is Democrat Wayne Burton and independent Ted Diehl.  The write-in candidates are Jim Smith, Spencer Virta, Antonia Keg, Ricky Swalm, Sue Tiernan and Gary Bevilacqua

Board of Supervisors

West Goshen moves from three supervisors on the board to five in this election.  The Republicans running are Raymond Halvorsen, Jacob Bowman and Theodore Murphy.  The Deomcrats running are Phil Corvo, Todd Bales and Geoff Wilkinson.
