Commisioner Elected Chairman of Regional Planning Commission

Chester County Commissioner Terence Farrell is elected chairman of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.

The following is a press release from Chester County.

Terence Farrell, Chair of the Chester County Board of Commissioners, has been elected Chairman of the prestigious Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC).

“The DVRPC is an outstanding regional organization that plays a vital role in the future of Chester County and our neighboring counties throughout the Delaware Valley region,” said Terence Farrell.

“As Chairman, I’m looking forward to working with the Commission and other Delaware Valley leaders to further a regional focus that will benefit us all, including the implementation of the Connections plan for a sustainable future that addresses transportation alternatives, the increase in commercial and residential choices, a reduction of energy use and preservation of natural resources.”

Commissioner Farrell’s term as Chairman of the DVRPC will run for one year.

Established in 1965, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission provides comprehensive, coordinated planning for the orderly growth and development of southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. The region includes Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania, and Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Mercer counties in New Jersey.

An interstate, intercounty and intercity agency, DVRPC advises on regional policy and capital funding issues concerning transportation, economic development, and environment and land use.
