Cassandra Jones will Run for State Office

The West Chester Borough Council Vice President will run in the 2012 primary for the state legislature.

West Chester Borough Council Vice President Cassandra Jones will run for the 156th Pennsylvania Legislative seat in the April 24 primary election.

Jones, who represents the borough's second ward, will run as a Democrat against East Bradford resident Bret Binder.

Both will be challenging incumbent Republican Dan Truitt.

Jones won her second term as a borough council member in last November's election.  She defeated Republican challenger Scott Brion by earning 83 percent of the vote. 

Jones was also named the borough council vice president at January's reorganization meeting.

Current state representative Dan Truitt originally won his seat in 2010 when he defeated Democrat Barbara McIlvaine Smith by 212 votes.

Christopher Amentas, of East Fallowfield, is running to unseat Andy Dinniman in the state senate general election.
