Borough to Vote on 2013 Budget

The West Chester Borough Council will vote on a 2013 budget that will not raise taxes.

The West Chester Borough Council will vote on adopting the 2013 budget on Wednesday.  The budget will not include a tax rate hike, and it will come in at a total of $39,713,854.

The real estate tax rate will remain at 6.96 mills the same rate as 2012.

The largest amount of borough funding will go to the general fund at $19,465,057, followed by the parking fund at $13,129,923 and the sewer fund at $5,436,500.

The vote comes after the borough agreed to fully fund the West Chester Business Improvement District at last week’s finance committee meeting.

The borough had originally planned to slash the BID’s funding from $85,000 to $40,000 in order to balance the budget.

If the budget passes, it will mark the second year in a row that the borough has managed to not raise taxes after raise rates 20 percent at the end of 2010.
