Borough to Discuss Yard Waste Change

West Chester Borough Council will discuss changing the current yard waste collection program.

West Chester Borough Council will discuss changing the borough's yard waste collection program on Tuesday night.

The proposed changes would provide a drop-off site at the public works building on one Saturday a month.

Currently, borough residents can drop off yard waste at the public works building at anytime.

The new programs aims to curb unlawful dumping by non-residents.

Under the new plan, curbside pickup would still occur.

Council will discuss and hold a preliminary vote on Tuesday evening.  A formal vote on the issue will happen Wednesday.

"The proposed changes would provide a drop-off site at the public works building on one Saturday a month."....We know what will happen if this becomes policy::: People will be throwing perfectly good compostable yard waste in trash bags for the landfill, wasting more plastic garbage bags, space in overfilled garbage trucks, needing more trash trucks for the extra waste, more workers to man the trucks, etc., etc. People don't want to hold their yard waste for a month, they want to dispose of it when it is cleared. As was mentioned previously, why not enforce the policy already in place, fining those who are illegally dumping there?
