Borough to Discuss New Street Garage Project

The West Chester Borough Public Works, Parks and Recreation and Parking Committees all meet Monday.

The August round of Committee meetings begins Monday with Public Works, Parks and Recreation and Parking.

The way this works, is an agenda item like an ordinance or a policy starts off in committee.  If the committee recommends the new policy or ordinance it will move on to a vote in front of the full council later in the month.

5:30-6:30 p.m.

Nothing jumps off of this agenda.  There will be a discussion about placing “Watch Children” signs between Brandywine Street and Wayne Street.  There will also be discussion about new storm water requirements from the state.

Parks and Recreation 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Only three action items on this agenda.  The first is a proposal from Borough Leaders for Emissions Reductions (BLUER) to install new bike racks in certain spots around the borough.  The second item deals with a county health initiative that would promote tobacco free parks and playgrounds.  The third item would authorize a feasibility study for restoring the fountain in Marshall Square Park.  The fountain was recently returned to the park after going missing for several decades.

Parking 7:30-8:30

According to the agenda, the borough will consider an $8.9 million bid to begin construction on the .  The parking garage will hopefully alleviate some parking congestion near while generating revenue.  People living near the proposed garage site have objected to its construction.
