Borough Finance Committee to Give Final Report

The West Chester Financial Advisory Committee will give its final report on Tuesday, May 29.

The West Chester Financial Advisory Committee will present its final report to borough council on Tuesday, May 29, at 6:30 p.m.

The committee was formed last year with the mission to figure out ways the borough could run more efficiently and to also search for ways the borough could save money.

In October, that included recommendations like cutting down on the borough's debt service and possibly outsourcing some responsibilities of the public works department.

The committee also mentioned renegotiating the borough's labor contracts in a more favorable way as well as charging residents a storm water fee.

There was also a mention in the preliminary report of restructuring the way the borough enforces parking.  Suggestions for restructuring included: garage optimization, increased parking fees, more parking meters, automated parking meters and strategic increases to enforcement.
