A Look Ahead at Tuesday's Borough Council Work Session

Council's agenda include the baseball stadium proposal, the Weston project and a presentation by the Business Improvement District.

The big-ticket item on Tuesday night’s work session agenda is the presentation of the Redevelopment Authority’s findings when it looked into the proposal to build a stadium in the borough.

At a meeting two weeks ago, the Authority stated that would tell council that the project was not financially viable.

However, this will be the first time those findings will be formally shared with council as well as the public at large.

Of particular interest is whether or not the people of West Chester actually want a baseball stadium.  The debate thus far has consisted of the Redevelopment Authority and the group that is proposing the stadium going back and forth over numbers.

This will be the first time that the public will be allowed to voice their opinions on the stadium in front of council.

Also at Tuesday night’s meeting, council will once again review a proposal from Weston Solutions to enter into a Power Purchase agreement with the company in order to upgrade the borough’s sewer facilities.

Weston is an international company that specializes in green technology for water treatment.  They have a West Chester office, and would like to partner with the borough in a project like this one.

Weston also stated at the last meeting that if this project falls through they would still like to find a way to work with the borough.

Council delayed the vote a month because they did not feel they knew enough about the project to make an informed decision.

Also of note, the Business Improvement District will file its annual report.

The Business Improvement District is a board made up of local business and property owners whose goals are to improve the downtown area.
