West Goshen Cop Named to County Detectives

New Chesco Detective was a two-time officer of the year in Westtown-East Goshen.

Former West Goshen Detective Robert Balchunis has been appointed to the Chester County Detectives, the investigative arm of the County District Attorney's office. Balchunis was hired to replace Detective Frank Martin, who retired at the end of 2012 

In announcing the appointment, Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said “Detective Balchunis is a perfect fit for the Chester County Detectives. He is experienced in all fields of criminal investigation, well respected by law enforcement throughout Chester County, and a tireless and determined investigator. In addition, he understands that the job of a Chester County Detective is to work together with law enforcement throughout the County. It is our privilege to add his talents to the Chester County Detectives.”

Balchunis has been a police officer for 15 years. He worked for the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department from 1998 to 2012 and the West Goshen Police Department since last year. He was named WEGO PD Officer of the Year in 2001 and 2012. Detective Balchunis will be assigned to the Major Case Squad for the Chester County Detectives.
