West Chester Police Arrest 68 in a Week

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

DUI: On Sept. 10, West Chester police discovered a 57-year-old borough resident allegedly sleeping in the driver’s seat of his vehicle with the engine running.  According to police the vehicle was allegedly in reverse and the resident’s foot was on the break.  Police allege that the vehicle was also facing the wrong direction in the southbound lane in the 700 block of North New Street.  The resident was arrested for DUI and related offenses.

Stats: West Chester Police made 68 arrests from Sept. 3-9.  Those arrests break down by the following offenses:

Underage Drinking: 20

Public Drunkenness: 16

Noise: 4

Disorderly Conduct 5

Harassment: 4

Criminal Mischief 1

Open Container: 16

Assault: 1

DUI: 3

Public Indecency: 10

Littering: 2

Simple Assault: On Sept. 8, at approximately 2:25 a.m., police arrested 22-year-old West Chester resident Kenneth Kane for simple assault.  According to witnesses, Kane allegedly tackled his girlfriend to the ground causing injuries.

Parole Violation: On Spet. 11, at approximately 2:24 p.m., police arrested West Chester resident Hignio Cruz in the 400 block of East Barnard Street for an alleged state parole violation.  Cruz allegedly led officers on a foot pursuit and was shortly apprehended.
