Several Charged, One Runs After Park Party Draws Police

A holiday weekend party in a local park brings out police.


West Chester Police are still looking for one suspect after a Fifth of July party got out of hand in an East Bradford park.

The Fourth of July holiday is often one of the busiest periods of the year for police.

West Chester Police say they were called to Shaw's Bridge Park just before 10:30 p.m. Friday for a report of people drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. Police say that when officers arrived at the park they found 15 people near a rope swing at the south end of the park. According to police some "were visibly intoxicated and the area was littered with empty beer cans."

Several people were arrested and others were charged with violations ranging from public drunkeness to underage drinking to citations for violating park rules.
Two adults in their twenties and one 19-year-old were taken into the police station and later released to appear later in court. The teen was charged with underage drinking.

Five other people were released and will receive citations in the mail.
