Police Blotter: Man Hits Telephone Pole with .187 BAC

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Warrant: responded to a report of a disturbance at 8 East Washington Street on Jan. 16, at approximately 7:56 p.m.  One of the involved parties was identified as 19-year-old Zachary Harrison-Elliot of West Chester.  Harrison-Elliot was determined to have an active criminal warrant for his arrest.  Police also discovered Harrison-Elliot to also allegedly be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

DUI: On Jan. 18, at approximately 11:27 p.m. police responded to the 100 block of North Adams Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash.  Upon arrival, officers located a blue Oldsmobile Achieva that had crashed into a telephone pole after traveling off the roadway and over a plot of grass.  The vehicle received severe damage to the hood and bumper and the airbags had also deployed.  The driver, Agustin Colon-Brava of the 300 Block of East Miner Street was taken into custody for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and traffic related offenses.  A portable breath test at the scene allegedly registered Colon-Brava’s blood alcohol level at .187.

Fleeing the Scene: On Jan. 19, at approximately 2:16 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of North Walnut Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash.  Upon arrival, officers located a white Land Rover that had struck two legally parked cars in the block.  A witness reported to police that the occupants of the car had exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  Officers located the passenger, Blaine Hinchberger, of the car in an alley several blocks away.  Police took him into custody for alleged public drunkenness.  The driver, Matthew Terlingo, was located a half-hour after the crash and taken into custody.  Terlingo was arrested for and alleged DUI and traffic related offenses.

Fleeing the Scene: On Jan 18, at approximately 3:13 p.m. police were dispatched for a hit and run crash at the intersection of South High Street and Lacey Street.  Witnesses to the crash provided a description of the vehicle and the operator, which were stopped by West Goshen police in the 800 block of South Matlack Street.  Police arrested 36-year-old Chadds Ford resident David Johnson II after allegedly being identified as the operator involved in the crash.  Police charged Johnson with an alleged DUI, and they also found him to allegedly be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. 

Criminal Mischief: Police arrested 33-year-old West Chester resident James Hutton on Jan. 18, after Hutton allegedly attempted to force his way into an apartment by kicking the door while the resident was home.  Police also charged Hutton with alleged criminal attempt trespassing, criminal mischief and public drunkenness.
