New WEGO Pact Looking Doubtful

Westtown and East Goshen Township officials continued talks with the the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department with no resolution in site.

The Daily Local reports that despite a 13-hour barganing session both sides in the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department contract talks remain far apart.

According to the Daily Local, the WEGO police department faces disbandment if a new contract cannot be reached.  The current contract is set to expire at the end of 2013.

A scheduled Westtown-East Goshen Police Commission meeting lasted for roughly 13 hours Monday as both sides scrambled to reach an agreement in time to salvage a deal with Thornbury, whose contract with the department expires at the end of this year. Last week Thornbury approved in general terms an agreement with the Borough of West Chester that could lead to a new 5-year police services contract between the two municipalities.
