Crash Hospitalizes Driver

Emergency personel found the man unconscious in his vehicle and charged him with drug possession, police say.

A 20-year-old West Chester man was hospitalized on Monday after he crashed his Honda Accord into a tree on Waterview Road, Westtown-East Goshen Police are reporting.

The man was charged with DUI and possession of marijuana following the accident, which occurred in the Waterview Apartments complex where he lives.

According to the department, on Feb. 25 at 10:06 p.m., police and EMS units arrived at the complex for a reported accident and found a 2010 Honda Accord backed into a tree and the driver unconscious inside the vehicle.  The driver didn’t respond to police, and emergency personnel were forced to break a passenger window to remove the man from the car.

The driver was transported to Paoli Hospital, where police say he was found to be in possession of marijuana.

The man was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, careless driving, and public drunkenness.
