Man Crashes through Garage Gate

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

DUI: On Jan. 4, at approximately 2:19 a.m., West Chester police were notified of an operator who damaged a gate while attempting to exit the Bicenntennial Garage.  Police stopped the alleged vehicle in the 100 block of East Market Street.  Police identified the operator of 21-year-old Glenmoore resident Sean Smithson.  Police allege that there was an obvious odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.  Further investigation revealed that there was allegedly a small amount of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia in the vehicle.  A witness identified Smithson as the actor who allegedly broke the garage exit gate.  Smithson was taken to Chester County Hospital for blood tests due to impaired operation of a vehicle related to drug and alcohol consumption.

Drugs: On Jan. 1, as a result of a traffic stop at the intersection of South Franklin Street and East Nields Street, police took 20-year-old West Chester resident Matthew Scott into custody for alleged possession of two sandwich bags containing over an ounce of suspected marijuana.
