Police Chase Through West Chester Ends with Arrest

West Chester Police arrested a man after they say he led them on a short car chase Thursday.

Police have 36-year-old Glen Mills resident Corlin Hackett in custody after police say he led officers on a car chase through sections of West Chester Thursday night.

A West Chester police officer attempted to stop the vehicle being driven by Hackett after police say it was observed speeding and travelling recklessly on East Gay Street toward the town center. 

Police say Hackett refused to stop the vehicle, despite officers turning on their lights and sirens.

Hackett fled from Gay Street, turning his car onto South Matlack Street, and then turning again onto East Miner Street, according to police.

Police say that Hackett crashed into two parked cars on East Miner Street, and that he struck a third parked car when he turned onto Railroad Alley.

Police say officers conducted a felony car stop after Hackett’s vehicle hit a police car and came to a stop. 

Hackett was taken into custody and charged with fleeing and eluding a police officer, DUI and related traffic offenses. 

No injuries were reported in the incident, and damage to the vehicles was not extensive, police say.
