Former WCU Student Arrested in Drug Candy Bust
The seizure of 40lbs of drug-laced candy in October lead to an arrest in January.
Official have arrested a 25-year-old man who allegedly planned to distribute over 40lbs of drug-laced candy in the West Chester Area this past October, according to a release from the Chester County District Attorney’s office.
Police have arrested Robert Callis-Keiser, of Johnstown, on charges of procession of a controlled substance with intent to distibute.
According to reports, police sized the drug candy from Callis-Keiser’s South New Street apartment in West Chester last October, but the man wasn’t arrested until Thursday due to now-completed lab tests on the candy.

Police say the found several West Chester University students in a car that smelled of marijuana on campus in October. Working backwards from there, police were able to find and recover the drugged candy at Callis-Keiser’s apartment.
Callis-Keiser was enrolled at the University at the time of the incident, but is reportedly no longer a student.

Officials say that they will be on the lookout for more cases like this going forward.
“This type of drug-laced candy is fairly common on the West Coast of the United States, but it is a new trend in this area,” District Attorney Chief of Staff Charles Gaza said. “Mixing drugs with candy presents a unique danger to children. West Chester University Police have been diligently working on this case since the initial seizure of the candy and we are not in a place to proceed with [charges].”
