FOP Accidentally Sends Letter of Endorsement to Truitt

The Chester County Fraternal Order of Police accidentally sends a letter to Dan Truitt endorse his campaign when they meant to endorse Bret Binder.

The Chester County Fraternal Order of Police accidentally sent a letter of endorsement to State Rep. Dan Truitt of the PA-156th district on Wednesday after the had already endorsed Binder.

In an e-mail sent to the Binder campaign, FOP president Edward Toner writes:

Also please be advised that a letter was sent to Dan Truitt in error, stating that  Lodge No. 11 had endorsed Mr. Truitt for the 156 Legislative District.

The e-mail goes on to say:

Please be advised that Lodge No. 11, did endorse you [Bret Binder] at our September 19, 2012 general meeting for the 156 Legislative District.

Toner continues:

I personally apologize for this error.

Both Truitt and Binder posted blogs on West Chester Patch claiming the endorsement, while Binder called upon Truitt to retract his.

In the Daily Local Friday morning, FOP solicitor Joe DiGiorgio said that the FOP accepts fault for the mix-up, and that the Truitt campaign did not do anything underhanded.
