Route 202 Night Work Next Week Near West Chester

The construction continues.

Nighttime restrictions are scheduled on Route 202 between Route 100 and Matlack Street in West Goshen Township, Chester County next week (June 3-7) as construction nears completion on a $19.3 million improvement project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.

Weather permitting, construction crews will saw cut and seal joints the asphalt pavement, paint traffic lines and install reflective pavement markers. Barring inclement weather, next week is expected to be the final week of work on the project. 

Route 202 motorists will face single-lane patterns Sunday through Thursday (June 3-7). Northbound lane closures will occur each night from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and southbound restrictions will last from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Drivers are advised to allow more time for travel on Route 202 or use an alternate route during construction because backups and delays will occur.

PennDOT has improved this 4.3-mile section of Route 202 by replacing deteriorated concrete pavement and resurfacing the four-lane expressway; reinforcing the roadway shoulders; patching and repairing eight bridges; painting steel beams on three bridges; removing and replacing five overhead sign structures; installing new highway signs; installing new guide rail and median barriers; and installing safety rumble strips.

Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $19,377,081 project. The project is financed with 100 percent federal ARRA funds.
