Goshen Friends School asks you to join us for our 1st Annual Get Going for
Goshen 5K on Saturday, October 5, 2013,
814 North Chester Rd, Wes Chester, PA 19380.
Our Goshen Goal is to make Get Going for Goshen a
premier annual event to raise awareness
about the importance
of physical activity in the
lives of our children. Proceeds from
this year’s
event will support our physical
education program and furnish
needed sports equipment for our students.
Goshen Friends School (GFS)
is in its second year
of The Feelin’ Good® Mileage
Club walking/running program for schools. Last year, our students and staff logged a total of
690 miles that helped us
reach Indianapolis, IN (619 miles
from GFS). Our
goal is to get across the United States by tracking our journey
using the state
capitals. The Mileage Club takes
place around the soccer field Mondays,
Wednesdays, and Fridays
from 12:30-1pm during lunch recess.
Walking/running helps
develop fitness while building muscles, burning
calories,
reducing stress,
increasing children’s learning readiness and
creating good lifelong
habits in our fight against obesity.
The event will feature a 5K race starting at Goshen
Friends School at 11am with the
2 mile run/walk at 11:15am. Registration opens at 10:30am. The run/walk will take the path from Goshen Friends School through East Goshen
Park, continue through Applebrook Preserve, and end at the
School. Following the race
will be our annual Harvest Fair open to
all
in the community. Join us
for family fun games, arts
and crafts, music and food.
