"A Mardi Gras Celebration" featuring The Barbone Street Jazz Band

Archmere Academy’s Friends of The Patio will host the second installment of its 2014 Helena Springer Green Raskob Concert Series, celebrating Mardi Gras in true New Orleans style, Sunday, March 2, 2014, at 3 p.m. in The Patio. The ticketed event is open to the public, and features Philadelphia’s premier six-piece New Orleans jazz and swing band The Barbone Street Jazz Band. A Mardi Gras themed reception will follow the concert.

Formed in 1996 by clarinetist and band leader Steve Barbone,The Barbone Street Jazz Band is the most sought after dixieland, hot jazz, swing band in the Tri-State area, performing American Songbook and Mardi Gras music at nearly 150 venues per year. The band’s individual musicians have performed with jazz legends of the 20th and 21st centuries such as Billie Holiday, Clifford Brown, Louis Prima, Roy Eldridge, Thelonious Monk, and others.
