Ramps to Close along with Lanes on 202

PennDot has announced that construction will continue on Sunday on the northbound side of Route 202 in West Goshen Township.  The highway will shrink down to one lane between the Westtown Road exit and the intersection with Route 100.

Additionally, road crews will close down the ramps to and from Route 322.

Construction workers will close down one lane of traffic and the ramps beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday so that the road surface can be repaved and the lines redrawn.

PennDot plans to continue construction through the week; however, lane and ramp closures will only occur at night.  Starting Monday, the lane and ramps will be closed at 7 p.m., and then reopen again at 5 a.m. the next day.

PennDot expects to pay $19.3 million to complete the project.

According to a press release from PennDot, contractor is removing the asphalt riding surface on Route 202 in preparation for replacing deteriorated areas of concrete pavement. The work schedule is dependent on the weather.

The press release also says that construction crews will work this year and into 2012 to rehabilitate and improve 4.3 miles of Route 202 between the Route 100 Interchange and High Street. The project began in May 2010 and is scheduled to finish in May 2012.
