Mom Talk: Parks and Playgrounds

West Chester moms talk about their favorite local parks and playgrounds.

Today we have assembled a panel of three local moms to get the inside scoop on the best parks and paygrounds for the toddler set. Joining us are Nicole Wiley, Allison Treston, and Ramsey Cotherman.

Patch: Although the weather is about to revert back to seasonal norms, we had a few really lovely days this past week. What is your favorite WC playground or park to spend a sunny day with the kids?

Nicole: We're big fans of the playground at Pocopson Elementary, with its fast slides, tetherball, and "way-high" swings. There is a great kindergarten park there as well, even if my daughter eschews it, as it is apparently for "little babies". We also love the skatepark/dog park in West Whiteland- great place for people and canine watching and the proximity to PA's finest (Wawa) can't be beat.

Ramsey:  When the weather is nice, we love wandering around town. We mostly stick to Everhart Park. I like the fact that there is a nice paved path- and having 2 playgrounds doesn't hurt since there are so many kids in the borough. I would advise mothers to come prepared if it has rained any time around when you're planning on visiting not to wear anything you care about. You will end up covered in mud. But hey, that's what parenting is about- having fun, not looking cute! (Or it is to me anyway.)

Allison:  We like to go to West Goshen Park a lot. The is plenty of equipment for the boys to climb on, a sandbox area, and room to run. We also like to go to the park on the corner of Miner and Matlack streets (I'm not sure the name). I love that it has rubber flooring so it's never messy there. Plus when the weather gets warm they have these 4 frogs there that squirt water-so much fun!
