Gas Prices 50 Cents Higher Than Year Ago

In Pennsylvania, today's average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.454 up 3.6 cents from a month ago and 50.8 cents higher than a year ago.

From the East Penn Region, of AAA East Central, an affiliate of AAA and the Pennsylvania AAA Federation:

According to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report, crude oil approached the $100-per-barrel threshold to end last week, crude oil prices declined slightly in yesterday’s trading. These lower prices on the day were a product of continuing weakness in wholesale gasoline markets coupled with a slightly stronger U.S. dollar.

Since the beginning of October, crude oil prices have risen from $75.67 to 98.99 per barrel – an increase of more than 30 percent. During this same period, as gasoline demand has remained sluggish due to high prices and a weak economy, the national price at the pump has been relatively unchanged albeit at a price more than 50 cents higher than this time last year.
