Flood Watch Issued for West Chester

A storm system should move into the region Thursday morning bringing heavy rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for West Chester going into effect Thursday Morning and lasting until Friday.

Experts predict that heavy rain will begin to fall Wednesday night, but the heaviest amounts will fall during the day Thursday and into Thursday night.

Accumlation totals should be in the two to three and a half inches range, but could be higher depending on how the system moves into the area.

Low lying areas will naturally be the first to flood as well as creeks and streams.  Runoff from these waterways could also lead to flooding in major rivers.

Right now, the Passaic River is the most vulnerable to flooding, but the Raritan, Delaware and Schuylkill are also in danger.
