Flood Warning Issued in Chadds Ford

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Chadds Ford, specifically the Brandywine Creek.

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening, experts measured the water in the Brandywine at eight and a half feet.  The creek reaches flood stage at nine feet.

While the flooding is expected to be minor, the creek will reach flood levels and could rise as high a 9.7 feet.

Flooding is expected to be worse at the intersection of Creek Road and Route 926 where water levels could reach 10 feet.

The National Weather Service asks motorists to avoid all flooded regions where possible and to not try to drive through pooling water.  Often times water is deeper than it appears.

Experts believe water levels will fall below flood level by late tomorrow morning.  However, the flood warning will remain in effect until late Friday afternoon.
