Flood Warning Issued for Chester County

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning in effect until 11:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Chester County in effect until 11:30 p.m. Friday night.

As of 8:45 p.m. the western branch of the Brandywine Creek was above flood stage and as those waters make their way down more flooding could occur.

On top of the flood warning, the national weather service has also issued a flood watch for West Chester in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday.

According to experts, the area received between half an inch to an inch and a half Friday afternoon, and another two to three inches of rain is expected.

Forecasters say that some areas could receive as much as five total inches of rain.

The national weather service asks that people avoid traveling unless necessary, and that motorist should not attempt to drive through pools of flooded water because they may be deeper than they appear.
