Eastbound Lanes on I-76 to close in Montco

PennDot will close sections of the highway for rock removal.

The following is a press release from PennDot.

Eastbound Interstate 76 will be reduced from two lanes to one about one mile east of the Conshohocken Interchange (Exit 331) in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County on Monday through Thursday (Jan. 23-26) from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the removal of rocks from the highway’s embankment, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said today.

PennDOT advises motorists to use an alternate route or allow additional time for traveling east on I-76 because backups will occur during this operation.

As a preventative maintenance procedure, crews will remove rocks from the embankment at this location along eastbound I-76, which was the scene of a severe rock slide last September during an early morning torrential rainstorm.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on I-76 and other major highways before heading out.
