Bret Binder (D) Thanks Supporters on Eve of Election

Bret Binder Thanks Supporters on Election Eve

November 5, 2012

West Chester, PA – Bret Binder speaking to a group of supporters thanked them for their support and highlighted the importance of this election.

“Pennsylvania stands at a crossroads.  Harrisburg has been leading us down a path that is both fiscally and socially irresponsible.  We need to prioritize public education, protecting our open space and environment, creating jobs, and defending our civil rights.”

Bret went on to highlight the talking points of his campaign, noting the social and fiscal impact of current policy.  “Education funding has been cut by $860 million the last two years.  Socially, this has resulted in children losing valuable programs and a lower quality education.  Financially, these cuts have created higher property taxes, lower property values, and will cost us seven times as much in future social service costs, unemployment, and crime.”

Bret spoke of the environmental dangers facing Pennsylvania today.  “Pennsylvania is now considered the most gas and oil company friendly state in the union.  We impose some of the weakest regulations and lowest taxes in the country.  Socially, we are damaging our environment and creating the potential for true environmental disaster in Pennsylvania.  Financially, by failing to tax at the national average or fine companies that break the law, we are losing 400-00 million dollars a year in revenue.”

Bret emphasized his background as a job creator and that he brought jobs to West Chester through his law firm.  He noted his investment in companies that created more than 50 jobs as well as the fact that he advises small businesses every day.  “I understand the needs of small business and believe that it is through small business growth that we can create jobs and get the economy back on track.”  Bret highlighted the need to expand Keystone Opportunity Zones, create tax incentives for growing businesses, and make loans available affordable for small businesses.

Bret concluded asking his supporters to make the final push with him.  “This seat has been decided by as few as 28 votes in the past and 208 votes in 2010.  Please call five people you know, particularly independents and republicans, and talk to them about voting for me so that we can win this seat and have representation that will fight for all of us in Harrisburg.”

Binder has been endorsed by, among others, the local police - Chester County Lodge #11 FOP, Education Voters, PSEA, Sierra Club, Clean Water Action, Conservation Voters, Former Governor Ed Rendell, Admiral Joe Sestak, Planned Parenthood, SEIU, AFL-CIO, Equality PA, People for the American Way, and MoveOn.org.
