Viewfinder: Just Around the Riverbend

Writer and photographer Sarah Alderman snaps some shots of the Brandywine

Brandywine Creek fast facts:

  • Two branches form the Brandywine Creek.  They are both cleaverly named the East Branch and the West Branch.
  • The two branches of the creek both have headwaters near Honey Brook in Northwest Chester County.  The starting points are just two miles apart.
  • The creek flows into the Cristiana River in Delaware
  • The place where the Brandywine joins with the Cristiana was first settled by Swedish settlers in 1638.  They named the location, now part of Wilmington, Delaware, New Sweden.
