Your Vote Could Earn the WC Library 50,000 New Free Books

The West Chester Public Library could receive as many as 50,000 new books for free with your vote.

The following is a press release.

6abc, Disney XD, Marvel Entertainment, and First Book are teaming up to champion literacy in the Delaware Valley by pledging to donate up to 50,000 brand-new books to low- income families by participating in First Book’s virtual book drive. Now through February 28, 2013, the 6abcPhiladelphia Facebook fan page contains a virtual book drive where fans can donate one brand-new book by clicking on the non-profit of their choice. One vote = one book.

The six organizations eligible to receive up to 50,000 brand-new books include The Free Library of Philadelphia, the New Jersey Library Association, Cradles to Crayons, the Wilmington Public Library, Pajama Program, and the West Chester Public Library. The virtual book drive is part of a larger initiative aimed at promoting early reading habits for children ages six through fourteen years old, a campaign specifically called, “Reading With: Marvel Comics Close-Up,” by Disney XD, Marvel Entertainment, First Book, and ABC Owned Television Stations.
