Happening this Halloweekend

Things going bump in the night Friday through the holiday itself.

Every weekend, a new group finds themselves engrossed in West Chester’s ghostly history as this walking tour leads them through the Borough area. Tours are every Friday and Saturday night in October. They begin at 8:00 pm and doors open at 7:00 pm rain or shine. A steal at only $5 for those ages 5 and up, get a little scare while learning more about this historic town. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather.

Marlborough Valley Corn Maze

Wawaset Rd (Rt842),

Kennett Square, PA 19348

Phone: 610.347.1314

Geared towards a more timid crowd, this farm offers loads to do: 8.5 acre maze, hay jump, corn box, 20 minute hayride, goat walk, corn cannon, pick your own pumpkin patch (only 25cents a lb!), and much more! All included in general admission. They’ve got food & drinks for purchase as well. For the hardier crowd, try the haunted woods or haunted maze. Lines were much shorter and prices were lower than perennial favorite Bates Motel, but the screams weren’t as bone-chilling.

Bates Motel at Arasapha Farms

1835 Middletown Rd. (Rt 352)

Glen Mills, PA  19342

Now open more than twenty years, this haunted attraction has been featured on the Travel Channel and rated the #1 Haunted Attraction in the country. The hayride is 25 minutes long, and worth the incredibly long wait. It isn’t cheap ($40/adult for a combo of hayride/Bates Motel/corn maze) but you will get your money’s weight in shrieks and screams, guaranteed.

Halloween Parade

Thursday, October 27

7:00 p.m.

Join the young and the young of heart at this annual favorite. Both parade participants and spectators are encouraged to dress up for this fun night in town. Parade will feature performances by dance groups, gymnasts, and marching bands, as well as floats and group entrants.

Trick or Treat

Monday, October 31

6:00-8:00 p.m.

Borough residents will enjoy tricking or treating on Monday evening this year. Remember some old-fashioned Halloween etiquette: if a home has their lights off, they are not opening the door to hand out candy. Remember to keep tabs on all members of your group, and to be a safety-conscious pedestrian while trolling for treats.
