Event Connected to WCU Student's Death Cancelled

A 19-year-old WCU students died attending a party at Temple University in April.

Spring Fling, an annual Temple University student event that provided the backdrop for the death of a former West Chester student in April, has been canceled for the coming school year, according to a report from NBC 10.

The news organization is reporting that university officials are canceling the event due to "excessive drinking among students."

Temple Dean of Students Stephanie Ives told the Temple News that the event was being cancelled because "it has really transformed into something where students perceive it as an excuse to drink and a drinking holiday."
