The "concierge" position is actually taking care of problems with rental units on nights and weekends. I would probably choose a different title to more accurately reflect the job.   more ›

West Chester Shop Plugs into Pedal Power

Motorized bikes are not new, but they are vastly improved and available on Gay Street.

Love to bike, but hate the hills? That sounds like thousands of people who are itching to hit the streets and save gas these days. It's also the driving theme at Hybrid Cycles on Gay Street. Hybrid Cycles is one of the shops taking part in West Chester's first annual Wellness Walk. The bikes are equipped with motors that can help give you that little extra push up a hill and make the difference between powering through a bike ride or powering down and giving up. Hybrid Cycles owner and President Gary DiVincenzo has been in business for four years and opened the store at 126 Gay Stree three years ago. Not surprisingly he says new lithium battery technology changed the landscape for hybrid bikes about four years ago. New battery technology…

Growers Market Returns Saturday-With a Plea

The people behind the seasonal outdoor market say their West Chester location could be in jeopardy.

The West Chester Growers Market returns for the 2013 season this weekend but they are asking for help from patrons with what organizers see as a potential threat to the market's outdoor location. An announcement on the Market's website says the West Chester Borough Council is considering developing the parking lot at Church and Chestnut Streets where the market is held on Saturday mornings from May through November. In an open letter to the public the market is asking shoppers to contact their elected representatives. As we approach our 19th year of serving the local community, the West Chester Grower's Market faces the possibility of losing our home in the parking lot at Church & Chestnut Streets.  We need your help.  The parking lot is …

Who's making the 'development' decisions because I certainly haven't seen anything asking home owners what WE think…   more ›

Tour a $3.2M Home Owned by Albert Barnes

See the ornate detail Barnes had added to this Merion Station mansion.

A lot has changed in the Philadelphia area since 1951, when Albert Barnes died in a crash in the Phoenixville area. For connoisseurs of the arts, perhaps the biggest change was the recent move of the Barnes Foundation's art collection from Lower Merion Township to its new home in Philadelphia. The asking price: $3,295,000.   The home at 379 North Latch’s Lane has 7 bedrooms, 5 full baths and two powder rooms and 10,000 square feet of living space on the first and second floors, according to Realtor Beth Samberg with Prudential Fox & Roach.
