Once again, I asked readers to identify another nondescript looking home in the West Chester area, and once again some one knew the answe right away.

Reader A. Roy Smith wrote:

The Philip Sharpless House at 400 S. Church Street. Built in 1838. Architect was possibly Thomas U. Walter (CC Courthouse, now Well Fargo Bank and may more) altough not formal documentation exists. Walter and Sharples were friends. Actor Claude Raines owned house in late 1950's

Thanks for the history lesson Roy, and thanks everyone else for reading.  Check back again nex week for another round of "Then and Now."
