Police Arrest Purse Snatchers

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Prowling: On Thursday, June 28, West Chester Police took a complaint of a suspicious male loitering around a property in the 500 block of South Walnut Street.  While checking the area a male matching the description provided by the victims was located.  When approached by police the man fled, and when caught, he engaged in a physical struggle with the police.  The male was taken into custody and identified as Mieczyslaw Kaliszewski, 57, of Brandamore.

Robbery: On June 26, at approximately 11:03 a.m., West Chester police responded to the report of a possible disturbance at the intersection of West Miner Street and South Brandywine Street.  Officers located the victim who reported that two males knocked her to the ground and stole her purse.  Officers, with the assistance of residents, located two suspects and developed leads on a third.  Police arrested Jaime Camacho, 19, Coatesville, and a 16-year-old male from Coatesville were arrested without incident.  They were both charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, simple assault and conspiracy. 

On June 27, police arrested the third suspect, Rojelio Hernandez, 24, Coatesville.  He will be charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, simple assault and conspiracy.
