Man Swipes Money from Bar, Punches Employee, Police Say

According to West Chester Police, the defendant was in possession of a controlled substance at the time of the incident.

A 23-year-old Coatesville man was arrested earlier this month after police say he stole from a Landmark Americana Tap & Grill employee and assaulted the man.

On March 9 at 11:15 p.m., West Chester Police were called to the bar for a reported theft. According to the department, the manager of the bar told police that the defendant, a patron, had swiped money from the bar that didn’t belong to him. Police say the manager confirmed this suspicion after reviewing security footage.

Police say that while they were escorting the defendant from the bar, he turned and punched a Landmark employee in the side of the head with a closed fist.

The man was charged with theft, simple assault, and public drunkenness. During a search of the defendant, police say they found him in possession of several different types of pills.

After the pills were analyzed, the department levied additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia against the defendant.

He faces preliminary hearing on May 14.
