Man Fires BB Gun at Security Officer

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

 

DUI: On Nov. 4, at approximately 1:35 a.m. West Chester police responded to the Bicentennial Garage located at 20 South High Street for a report of a two vehicle crash.  According to police the crash allegedly involved a moving car and a legally parked car.  Upon arriving at the scene police made contact with 26-year-old Huntington Valley resident Dolores Vandergrift who had allegedly been operating the vehicle.  Police administered field coordination exercises that Vandergrift allegedly failed.

Assault: On Nov. 4, at approximately 2 a.m., a West Chester police officer was flagged down by a member of the private security team patrolling the university neighborhood near the intersection of Walnut and Magnolia.  The security officer told police that he was being fired upon by an unknown subject with a BB gun.  Police located several BBs in the area. 

WCPD officers located an open window on the third floor at the corner of Walnut and Magnolia Streets.  Officers made contact with a 23-year-old New Jersey resident who resided in the apartment with the open window.  The resident admitted to shooting at the security officer.
