Grab and Go Kids Planner

Here's a look at this week's family-friendly events.

 

Sometimes it's hard to find things to do as a family.  So Patch wants to help.  Every week we are going to publish a list of the best family-friendly events going on in the area.  We're looking for things that are fun, close-by and cheap.

May Festival

Where/When: Chester County Hospital, May 20-22, Friday from 4-9 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: The Chester County Hospital and First National Bank present the 28th Annual May Festival, three days of amusement rides, crafts, food and music benefiting the Hospital.

Pricing: Free

Growers Market

Where/When: Corner of Church and Chestnut Streets, Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: The West Chester Growers Market is open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May through November. Local farmers, crafters and bakers present specialty food items and produce, and musicians are often on hand to provide a fun, fair-like atmosphere. Many weeks include special activities for children, like ice cream giveaways or games.

BBQ Choo-Choo

Where/ When: West Chester Railroad Company, Saturday, May 21 from 6-8 p.m.

Why Go: The West Chester Railroad partners with the Pig Out BBQ Pit for a special train ride with BBQ dinner. Depart the Market Street Station and arrive at the Glen Mills picnic grove where you will enjoy Pulled Pork BBQ, Baby Back Ribs, Homemade sides, Pulled chicken BBQ and Corn Dogs along the Chester Creek. Tickets must be ordered from the Pig Out BBQ Pit.

Pricing: Adults - $20.00; Children - $15.00

East Jazz Concert

Where/When: East High School, Monday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: East High School presents its Jazz Band Concert at Fugett Middle School at 7:30 p.m.

Pricing: Free
