Borough Council to Discuss Raising Fines
Borough Council will vote on Monday on whether or not to raise minimum fines on quality of life violations.
The West Chester Borough Council will discuss and vote on Monday night whether or not minimum fines for quality of life violations in the borough should be raised from $100 to $250.
The borough would raise the minimum fine on violations including: public urination, noise and open container.
The raise in fines is just another action borough council has considered taking as it tries to curb behavior in the neighborhoods surrounding West Chester University.
Besides increasing the fines, the borough has hired a private security firm to patrol the borough, and it has considering installing "quiet zone" signs as well as keeping track of how much it costs the borough for police enforcement in those neighborhoods.
